In Become a Light in the Darkness, Yurii Hurych invites us into a contemplative space where light and shadow exist in quiet dialogue. These photographs feel less like documents of the visible world and more like thresholds, moments that ask us to pause, reflect, and sense what lies beneath the surface of what we see.
Darkness here is not absence, but presence: a fertile ground from which illumination emerges. Light appears as both form and metaphor, a subtle force that reveals, guides, and endures. As viewers move through this series, they are encouraged not simply to look, but to dwell within the images, discovering that illumination often arises not by escaping the dark, but by learning to see within it.
This exhibition is designed not only to be seen, but to be felt. The visitor of Become a Light in the Darkness is invited to experience a quiet inner ignition - a moment when something subtle begins to glow from within. Here, light does not simply cut through darkness; it reveals it, transforming night into a space for reflection and insight. Darkness becomes a soft depth rather than a threat - a place where one can finally listen to oneself.
The luminous lines guide the viewer through the breath of the mountains, the whisper of forests, the strength of the earth, and the primordial energy of nature - an energy that remains unchanged even as everything else shifts. While contemplating these images, the viewer may sense that light can be born where it is least expected, and that sometimes one must pass through the deepest night to recognize their own radiance.
This series is a reminder that inner light cannot be lost - it can only be rediscovered. And when allowed to emerge, it becomes a beam capable of illuminating not only one’s own path, but also the way for those who walk nearby. Yurii Hurych
